Kea? Fantail? Albatross? Which native bird is your favourite?

Takahe

You can vote now for your favourite NZ native bird at the newly redesigned and redeveloped Forest & Bird website, which went live on October 6. You can also donate, sign up for membership and e-news, read about the wonderful projects and campaigns Forest & Bird members around the country are involved in, and learn a great deal about our country’s threatened species and habitats.

A complex content-managed site based on the Drupal platform, the site is highly taxonomy-based. Content can either be browsed by Branch or Region or via the site structure. What does that actually mean?

A campaign or project can be found under

  • What we do > projects (campaigns) using the site structure - the entry ‘lives’ here and can have sub-pages
  • on the specific region(s) page(s)
  • on the specific branch(s) page(s)
  • and using the search …

And vice versa. Everything is cross-referenced, which is the appropriate way to handle huge amount of content.

Step off to the blog and comment and feedback on concerns, issues or praise for conservation in your area and let your voice be heard!

Congratulations to Mandy, Mike, Helen, Marina and all the team at Forest & Bird for their hard work with us in building and launching this site. And fantastic work Heike, Aman, Tom and James for the great effort at the Breathe end.
